Concert

The Linnaeus Trio presents: Entomophonia!

Entomophonia! is a cheerful concert - if the weather allows, it's to be enjoyed outside - with a leading role for insects. The Linnaeus Trio (clarinet, accordion and voice) has selected a colourful collection of music in different styles, from Renaissance to contemporary, including chanson and Dutch musical heritage.

The trio invites you to dive into the wonderful world of insects, with works by, among others, Bach, Schumann, Fauré and Britten. Cherished insects like butterfly and bee, but also less popular creatures such as lice, flees and mosquitos are put in the spotlights.

In Entomophonia! you will hear musical imitations of insect sounds as well as philosophical reflections on insect life by writers like Emily Dickinson, Victor Hugo and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Tune in to the huge diversity of the insect world, eavesdrop on the interaction between insect and man, get wise to these indispensable heroes of the ecosystem.

Kees van der Harst (clarinet)

Costume: Susanne Hurenkamp

Direction: Menno Vroon and Nina Fokker
