Workshop: Back to the Future? Could ‘the way we were’, lead us to ‘the future we want’?
Climate change – as a threat – isn’t inspiring.
We’ve known this for a while, and so the past years WUR has made these - solarpunk-like - optimistic visions of the future.
We reject climate doomerism and instead embrace a sustainable future interconnected with nature and community.
Although solarpunk is wholesome, it is also a fantasy genre and an art movement.
In this workshop we will explore the science of cultural heritage to connect the fantasy to the non-fiction. We specifically dive into the Dutch past, history and heritage: are there landscape practices that can inform us of sustainable practices to face today’s challenges? What do we value? And what not? What dilemma’s arise? Let’s explore cultural heritage together to actualise a sustainable future.
